At its Board meeting on September 12, 2007, the Barrington Area Historical
Society announced a new partnership with Painting in Partnership, Inc. of Palatine Illinois. Painting in Partnership will serve as a consultant to the Society on the color schemes for its buildings and be responsible for the execution of the Society’s painting and decorating projects. The company will supply the Society with technical information on the painting and decorating of historical homes and participate in the Society’s American Home Series by presenting three lecture programs in the fall and winter.
Painting in Partnership is Nationally Accredited through the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) and is the recipient of numerous national awards and distinctions. Co-founder and president, Mario Guertin, was chosen as Top Residential Honoree in the 2007 National Who’s Who in the Painting Industry.
Mr. Michael J. Harkins, President of the Barrington Area Historical Society for nearly twenty years, had this to say: “The partnership will allow the Historical Society to provide much needed leadership in the area of exterior restoration of houses in our historical district, as well as providing a model through the visual presentation of the Applebee and Kincaid houses. The work with Painting and Partnership will assist the Society in keeping community history alive through education and preservation.”
The Barrington Area Historical Society was founded in 1967 and currently occupies several buildings in the heart of Historic District of Barrington. The Society is a cultural asset for the entire community. Its facilities include a state-of-the-art museum which has attracted many exhibits from the Smithsonian and the Endowment for the Humanities.
