Painting in Partnership Receives
2007 Grand Prize Award
Painting
in Partnership, Inc. of Palatine, Illinois has just won the prestigious
Grand Prize of the 2007 TOP JOB Award, sponsored by the American Painting
Contractor magazine. This Grand Prize includes a monetary award of $10,000
and the residential project was featured in the March-April issue.
Painting in Partnership’s winning entry was a five-color repainting
of a Victorian Grande Dame, one of Chicago’s historic frame homes
that survived the Great Chicago Fire. Over 20 years ago, its current owner
undertook a massive restoration of the home and made it into a true Victorian
landmark. Having been repainted only once since the restoration, the project
presented numerous challenges for the painters, including safety. The
architecture and design of the house made access to certain areas very
challenging. The project took approximately 700 hours to complete.
American Painting Contractor magazine, first published in 1923,
kicked off the 10th Anniversary of the TOP JOB Awards by sending invitations
to 25,000 contractor/readers to participate under four categories: residential,
commercial/industrial, decorative painting and paperhanging. “Judging
the TOP JOB Awards has always been one of my favorite obligations,”
said Susan Helmer, Editor of American Painting Contractor magazine. “Painting
In Partnership’s winning project is the epitome of what the awards
are all about. We are thrilled to name Mario Guertin and his company as
the 2007 Grand Prize Winner. Not only does Mario exemplify excellence
in painting skill and knowhow, he has a level of concern for employee
safety and craftsmanship that put him over the top in all categories of
our contest.” Painting in Partnership also won an Honorable Mention
for its other project submittal.
