The Barrington Historical Society Teams Up with Painting in Partnership to Offer Lecture on Antique Double-Hung WindowsOn November 7th, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 PM, the Barrington Area

Historical Society will offer a lecture, as part of its Heritage Series, on “The History, Function and Maintenance Issues of Double-Hung Windows.” The presentation will cover the evolution of glass in the 19th century, along with the development of double-hung windows. The program will address common maintenance issues and present solutions to preserve the integrity of an older home’s double-hung windows and sashes.

The presentation will be made by Mario Guertin, President of Painting in Partnership, Inc. headquartered in Palatine .  Guertin and his company are nationally accredited and have won numerous national awards for work on historical homes and other significant structures.

Guertin remarked:  “This presentation is made as part of Painting in Partnership’s ongoing commitment to important organizations, such as the Barrington Area Historical Society, to keep community history alive through education and preservation.  We hope to provide community leadership in the area of exterior restoration of houses in Barrington’s historical district.”

The Barrington Area Historical Society was founded in 1967 and currently occupies several buildings in the heart of the Historic District of Barrington. The Society is a cultural asset for the entire community. Its facilities include a state-of-the-art museum which has attracted many exhibits from the Smithsonian and the Endowment for the Humanities.
