The Barrington Historical Society Teams Up with Painting in Partnership to Offer a Lecture on Dressing up your House with Color

On February 27 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., the Barrington Area Historical Society will offer a lecture on “Dressing up the Interior of your House with Color”, as part of its Heritage Series.  The presentation will address issues to consider in selecting a color scheme and design concept for a “period house”.

The presentation will be made by Rita Guertin, co-owner of Painting in Partnership, Inc., headquartered in Palatine. Painting in Partnership is nationally accredited and has won numerous awards for its work on historical homes and other structures.  Guertin is the company’s Color and Concept Consultant.  She has an extensive background as an interior designer, artist and art therapist.

Guertin remarked: “Color creates an immediate reaction in our bodies, as well as our minds; a visceral response.  It has the power to take us back in time, through color memory, as well as ground us in the present by experiencing emotion.  Color can create or change our mood, alter energy in a space, as well as bring a breath of life to an otherwise black and white environment.”

The Barrington Area Historical Society was founded in 1967 and currently occupies several buildings in the heart of the Historic District of Barrington. The Society is a cultural asset for the entire community. Its facilities include a state-of-the-art museum which has attracted many exhibits from the Smithsonian and the Endowment for the Humanities.
